The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Committee on Fighting Organized Crime and Corruption and Third Component of the Threshold "Great Millenniums" Corporation Program on the Reduce of the Corruption Rate have presented the Publication "Round Table: Ways of the National Legislation Improvement aimed at the Fighting against Corruption."

 

O. Riabeka, the Chairman of the Committee on Fighting Organized Crime and Corruption opening the meeting declared that the participant of the round table discussed the policy and practices of corruption prevention and counteraction, authorized agencies on corruption counteraction, standards of behaviour and interests conflict regulation in the course of the public service and also participation of the publicity in corruption prevention.

 

O. Riabeka declared that during last two years the Committee actively cooperated with the Third Component of the Threshold "Great Millenniums" Corporation Program on the Reduce of the Corruption Rate, Program on Facilitation to the Government of Ukraine, European Council Office in Ukraine and other influential anti-corruption projects. According to the Chairman of the committee results of such cooperation may be regarded as adoption o the number of anti-corruption laws that come into force from 1 January 2010.

 

Robert Storch, Resident Legal Advisor, U.S. Department of Justice deems the anti-corruption legislative package "is supposed to provide the implementation of the essential concepts in Ukraine that would adjust national legislation system to the international norms and obligations."

 

Robert Storch emphasized that the cooperation with the Committee were considerable and it is supposed to be continued. "MCC project comes to its end but I would like to emphasize that there would be new project that would be financed by the State Department, its commencement is planed in the beginning of summer, or probably even in spring", - he briefed.
